Configuring the Radio

The process of entering a list of preferred frequencies (channels) and other settings into a radio is called “programming” the radio. You can program your radio manually through the keypad, but this is a time-consuming and error-prone process.

For your convenience, we have prepared the MVRN Channel List containing the frequencies that are most useful in the Moshannon Valley region. You can download the MVRN Channel List to your computer and load it into your radio using a programming cable and programming software provided by the radio manufacturer.

Prerequisites

  • A programming cable with a connector that fits your radio. A cable based on the FTDI chipset is recommended. If you need to purchase one, we recommend the FTDI PC03 model sold by Amazon.
  • A computer running Windows 7, Windows 10, or above
  • Familiarity with the Windows file system
  • Familiarity with ZIP files
