Operating the Radio


Tips

  • Hold the radio vertically, about 2 inches from your mouth.
  • After pressing the PTT (Push To Talk) button, wait a second before speaking.
  • Speak slowly and clearly.

  • The radio powers up in Standby mode.
  • You can switch to FM, Weather, or Scanning mode.
  • To immediately return to Standby mode from ANY mode, just power the radio off/on.
FunctionKey Sequence
TransmitPress the large, rubber button on the left side of the radio. This is called the PTT (Push To Talk) button.
FlashlightPress the FLASHLIGHT button (above PTT).
FM ModePress the (-) button (below PTT).
Weather ModePress the CLOUD button (lower left).
Scan ModePress and hold the SCAN button (upper left).
Select A/BPress the A/B button (lower right).
Select channelPress the (+) or (-) button (you can go fast).
MonitorPress and hold the MONI button (lower left).
Keypad LockPress and hold the LOCK button (lower right).
