GMRS LICENSE
You must have a current GMRS license to use a GMRS repeater. Your immediate family members may also use a repeater under your supervision.
IDENTIFICATION
You should identify yourself by stating your GMRS call sign at the beginning of each conversation and approximately every ten minutes thereafter.
CONVERSATION LENGTH
Other users may be monitoring a repeater on a regular basis in order to be of service to others in need. Please be considerate of them. If your brief conversation turns into a lengthy one, please consider whether you might wish to continue the conversation by telephone.
CONVERSATION CONTENT
A GMRS license permits the licensee’s family members to operate a radio and use a repeater. In order to ensure that the repeater is a family-friendly place, please conduct yourself as though children are present. Avoid the use of coarse language and avoid using the repeater to advance your personal views on sensitive issues.
COMMERCIAL USE PROHIBITED
Our GMRS repeaters are intended for non-commercial use only. Use of the repeaters for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.
NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR 911 SERVICE
GMRS radios and repeaters are not a substitute for 911 service. If you have any type of medical, fire, or police emergency, you should always call 9-1-1 if possible.
REPEATER MONITORING
If you are venturing into an area that lacks cell phone coverage, we suggest that you carry a radio and make arrangements to have a trusted friend monitor the repeaters in case you get into trouble. Please do not assume that anyone is monitoring our repeaters.
REPEATER AVAILABILITY
Our volunteers make reasonable efforts to keep the repeaters functioning at all times, but the operation and coverage of the repeaters cannot be guaranteed and may vary from time to time. Please do not assume that our repeaters are available and working properly at all times.
REPEATER COVERAGE
Due to hilly topography, changing atmospheric conditions, and differences in users’ radios, the repeaters may be unreachable from some locations. Please do not assume that our repeaters are accessible from all parts of the Moshannon Valley at all times.
